Ask Kelsey: Q & A

Thursday, January 16, 2014

This week I opened up the questions to you guys and let you ask me anything you wanted. I am always nervous to see what kind of questions I am going to end up getting but you guys were pretty nice! ;)

Why Mormonism over another Christian denomination?

Looks like we are starting things off deep! I was born and raised Mormon. For most of my life I went to church and believed the things that I do just because that was all that I knew. When I was a teenager I decided that just relying on other's thoughts and opinions on religion wasn't going to cut it anymore. I went to several different churches and while I still enjoyed them and got a lot out of the whole experience I didn't get the same feeling I did at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is hard to explain but I just knew.

I then went through one of the hardest trials of my life and started to seriously doubt myself. I lost hope in pretty much everything I have ever believed in throughout my life. I was in a pretty dark place for a long time but one morning I woke up and I knew that I needed the gospel of Jesus Christ back in my life. I knew that I was never going to feel happy without it.

What dreams do you have for the future and for your family? You've mentioned you would love to live abroad. What places would you want to live?

You are so right! I would love to get out and see the world. I just know that I wouldn't feel satisfied with my life if I just stayed here in Utah. There is so much to see and learn and experience in other places and I know I would be missing out and would regret it if I didn't take part in it. I'm not very picky about where I want to go. I would love to travel all over but as far as living abroad I would probably have to pick somewhere english speaking like London since I don't know any other languages. I sure wish I did!

What do you want to do with your major once you finish your degree?

That is a great question and I wish I knew the answer to it! I'm majoring in marriage and family studies which is pretty broad. I would love to work with families in either an adoption agency, teen crisis center, shelters, or something like that.  I would love to do something where I can work but still use my esthetics license on the side.

What is your favorite thing about being an esthetician?

I love helping people see results. I know how frustrating having problems with your skin can be so I love to help people build their confidence. Whether that be helping with pigmentation, acne, or anything else.

What is the hardest part of being married?

I'm not exaggerating when I am saying I love being married. I haven't really ever felt that it was hard. I think maybe because I have been in other relationships that were pretty awful so I definitely appreciate my marriage and know how lucky I am to have it so good. I would have to say that the hardest part would be sharing a bed. There are probably other things that are harder but those get talked about a lot. Our first month of marriage I thought we were going to have to move to a bigger apartment and get another bed because neither one of us could sleep. Between the snoring, yanking blankets off the bed, twitching, and  thrashing we were both hating life. Luckily after a couple months we have adapted and sleep just fine. It definitely was an adjustment though!

  1. Haha, oh sleeping in marriage... Joe always complains that I still his blankets or hog the bed and I feel like I never move while I sleep hahaha. We can't wait to get a king size bed. I tend to cuddle with him more in those because I think we both feel like we have more space there.. :P

  3. I would say sharing the bed is pretty hard, too! :) You should come love in NC for a while...I know it's not out of the country, or super fancy, but it's on the opposite side of the country!!

  4. Sharing a bed is such an adjustment! The other night it hit me that I'd better get over it since I signed up to share a bed forever, ha!

  5. Sleeping together (and literally sleeping, no euphemism there lol) is definitely something that takes practice. My husband and I have been together for years and now I can't sleep without him!

  7. I just moved in with my boyfriend 6 months ago and while I don't mind sharing a bed, I hate going to bed at the same time as him! He gets a second wind right before he sleeps and wants to talk and play games and be silly when I'm just like... sleeeeeeeeep. So now I've learned to try and go to sleep about a half hour earlier than he does!
