Dreamers

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

Tim and I are dreamers. There is no denying that. It was actually pretty hard on us to sign our 18 month lease at our new place because that means 18 months in the same place. Of course we made sure we could sell our contract if work just so happened to relocate us somewhere else.We want to see the world. I know that sounds so cliche but we just can't help it. It is all we seem to talk about lately. I want to experience live overseas. I want to see what life is like in a big city. I want to get out of my comfort zone and try something new.

On the other hand, Utah is nice. It is beautiful and mountainous and safe and we have lots of family here. I love that. I love driving for half an hour and having family get togethers with extended family or my in laws.

My question for you is how do you decide what you want to do with your life? Do you pick safe and reliable or throw yourself out there to indulge in new experiences?

  1. I am 29 and still don't really know where I want to be. Truth is I would love to be out of MN because I too am a dreamer...but I never put those dreams into reality. So if you can....do it! and then take me with you!

  2. I can so relate to that desire never to sign a contract because I don't want to be locked down anywhere! Angel and I have really chosen to base our lifestyle on what we strongly believe our God's plans for where we should be, and that's what give me peace about our plans for the future!

  3. Your question is a great question. haha! By the time Trevor and I were married for one year, we already lived in 3 states and 5 places. Kinda ridiculous, but so fun at the same time! That's a great question though. I think we're still trying to figure it out. It's hard on us to buy a house because we can't be dreamers or do anything spontaneous and fun. We're kinda just...living life and whatever opportunity comes up, we decide to take it or not. My most favorite thing ever is spontaneous trips! We've done that quite a bit too. Yo, sorry for the novel of an answer.

  4. Totally NOT cliche! Even though I'm 25 and settled I still hope to travel and see the world. Even if my kids are in tow:)

  5. I think you guys should definitely go experience life while you're still young and not tied down to kids yet! Okay, that sounds bad, but it's true. Go live your life before it's too late! :)

  6. I get depressed when I think of how much junk I'd have to go through, throw out, and all of the rest I'd have to pack up...ha. I'm hoping the next time my husband and I move, we stay there for several years! (Nothing wrong with adventure though!)

  7. New experience!!! :) Life is awesome and there are so many beautiful things to see and experience. See how other people live even if it's just for a little while. You will not regret it, but you will regret choosing the safe way.

  10. We threw ourselves out there and moved away from my family, but close to his and we love it here. I say do what feels best for you.

  11. I feel like life will put you exactly where you need to be even if its not what you planned. We just spent 5 years in NYC (somewhere I never imagined us) and it was so worth the risk. We were away from family and it made me stronger and more independent. Good luck!

  13. You ask the age old question. It's so hard!!! I think it depends on your age. Young? Paint the town red and go continent-hopping. Older? Ehhhhh I'd say stick to what you're comfortable with.

  14. My husband and I did the adventure thing and moved to Taiwan straight after we got married. It's been a crazy ride, that's for sure, and a huge learning experience. Definitely was the perfect time to do it. Now that we've been here for three years we're thinking it's time to head back closer to family. So I'd say do it! While you can and it's fairly easy, go for it!

  15. I think the same thing. I so badly want Dallin to get into a medical school back home in NC, but at the same time going to Chicago or NYC would be awesome I feel like :)
