Our Engagement Story Feb 11 2012

Monday, February 11, 2013

A year ago today was a cold wintery Saturday. Tim knocked on my door and invited me to lunch with him. I suspected something was up when I saw him all dressed up. We ate lunch at Tucanos and then he asked if I wanted to go walk around Bridal Veil Falls. I was a bit disappointed when he said that. I had mentioned that when he proposed I wanted it to be some personal, not the typical "romantic" spots in Provo.

We walked around Bridal Veil Falls for a few minutes and then he sat me down on a bench and asked where I saw myself in 5 years. We talked for a while and then he pulled out a little gift bag. I braced myself. This was it!

I opened it up and found a picture of us in a frame. It was wonderful and I loved it. Proposal time!! He then asked if I was ready to go. What?! We drove back home and he dropped me off at my apartment. I had to go to work in an hour so I was sure today wasn't going to be the day. I plopped myself down on the couch and told my roommate all about my day. I sat there for about 20 minutes and then decided to check my phone. There was a text message that told me to open up the back of the picture frame. I took the back off and inside was a love letter. It was incredibly special and I cherish it so much. At the end of the letter it told me to go into the laundry room.

(The laundry room to the apartment complex was right next to my door. We tended to linger around the door not wanting to say goodnight but it was so cold that we would go sit on the countertop in the laundry room and chat in the warm of the dryer exhaust.)

I opened the door of the laundry room and found Tim down on one knee with a little box in his hands. He told me a few short words and asked me to marry him.

It was honestly perfect. I wanted something quiet, personable, and romantic. Just about 7 months later we were married and we have been incredibly happy ever since!
