Dear Kelsey of 2010

Dear Kelsey of 2010,

I know you're going through a rough time right now, but I promise it's going to get better soon. Today is your 20th birthday. You're trying to smile in this picture but behind that smile is a lot of pain and heartache.

You never imagined this would happen to you. These things happen to other people. But this time it happened to you. Mistakes were made but hearts will heal and things will get better. Every day will get a little bit easier. I promise it will be worth it in the end.  You're trying to do so many things with your life but nothing is working out. It's discouraging and hard but one day it'll all pay off. It WILL pay off.

I know you got hurt in the part. Things didn't work out like you thought they would. You thought he was the one. He's not. You're not right for him, and he's not right for you. The right guy is just around the corner
You're going to open up to dating again. You'll figure out exactly what you're looking for and be on the lookout. You'll finally figure it out and keep your eye out for someone who fits that mold. Your past has told you what to stay away from. Stay true to that.

One Sunday you'll be at church and you'll notice that handsome man playing the piano. Something will stick out about him. You'll desperately want to talk to him. It''ll take a few months but eventually you'll become inseparable.

He will treat you better than you could have ever imagined. He will love you even though you've been scarred and bruised emotionally. He will look past all your flaws and shortcoming and love you unconditionally. He is your guy. Hold onto him and never let him go.

Love,

Kelsey

  12. I swear...sometimes when I read your posts I feel like I could have written them. We have so much in common, physically (too many health problems at such a young age, sound familiar? All the "why me? It's not fair" thoughts) and emotionally. What's good is when we realize some people have it way worse and we actually don't have it so so bad like we often feel. I'm so happy we both have supportive men behind us every single step though. We're incredibly lucky in that regard. Stay tough. I'd love to just chat with you some time via email or blogs in case we ever need to vent or something. You are an awesome lady and I'm glad to know I'm not alone by reading your posts sometimes.

  14. If only we knew then what we knew now! :P Oh well, I think there's a good reason why time travel wouldn't be a good idea, but sometimes it does seem like it would be nice to be able to give our younger selves some hints about the future!
