Back to School

Monday, April 22, 2013

So today was my first day back as a college student. It sounds so weird to be saying that! I attended BYU-Idaho on campus from 2008-2010, got my associates degree and then had no idea what I wanted to do from there.

I ended up working for AT&T for a while, then went and did a master aesthetician program in Provo and now here I am in Salt Lake finally returning to finish my degree online from BYU-Idaho. I'm majoring in Marriage and Family Studies. Since I am doing all major classes since I'm finishing with my generals the classes all seem quite similar. I am already having a hard time telling them apart. Hopefully I will submit all the assignments to the right places. :)

This definitely isn't going to be easy but I am so glad I made the choice to finally go back and finish. There is no better time than now. I couldn't imagine going back to school as a mother.

I spent about 7 hours working on assignments today and I feel like I barely made a dent. They said to expect 3-4 hours of work per credit and I am doing 14 credits. This is going to be a busy semester! I finish the semester in July and hopefully will only have 3 semester to go after that!

  1. Yay for your degree! Boooo for schoolwork!! I'm in grad school and it's sooooo annoying! Esp now that I'm finishing up the semester, I actually forgot to turn in an assignment last week! Woopsy! Luckily the teacher is super nice and accepted it a day late! Good luck!

  2. Oh hooray!!! I didn't realize that we were studying the same thing. My major at Weber State is Family Studies. Online takes a lot of dedication and it's super overwhelming at the beginning of each semester for me, but I really like the flexibility! Good luck girl!

  3. It sounds like a really interesting degree. It will become easier to manage your classes as you become used to being back in school. Good luck!

  6. School is hard work! I can't imagine going to school as a full time working adult OR a mother. My husband has been going full time and is about two weeks from being done. He reminds me every day! Better now then later like you said and it will be worth it to accomplish what you set out to do.

  7. Good luck! I finished my Associate's in December and it seems like there's nothing you can really do with an Associate's. I'm hopefully going to start on my Bachelor's in the fall but I still haven't heard back from the college and I applied in September! I have an almost three month old though so I'm nervous about having time for everything! Good luck!

  8. Good for you! I am always so giddy on the first day of my semester... and then a week later, I'm ramming my head into walls everywhere I go. Hehe. So. Many. Assignments!

I hope you enjoy your classes, because that makes all the difference!

  19. I feel your pain! I'm a year and a half shy of finally finishing up my BA degree. It's rough sometimes, but I keep telling myself it's worth it and I'm almost done. Best of luck!!!
