It has been hard to find motivation to decorate our apartment for Christmas for several reasons. The main one being that our entire apartment is pumpkin orange. How do you match that with Christmas?? Luckily next year around this time we will be living somewhere else. :)
You can see more pictures in my post about our 1st apartment here.
I'm worried if I try our apartment is going to look like the Nightmare Before Christmas. Do you have any ideas for me? Have you ever lived somewhere with an interesting paint job that you aren't allowed to change?

Go with silvers/golds! Something more neutral would look really nice!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
DeleteI would absolutely agree with Natalie ~ Silver and golds are your friend when you have a loud color like that.

Bigger is Better! I would try to hide the walls behind large Christmas Decor :)
ReplyDeleteI think gold would look great with orange! Painting isn't an option?
ReplyDeleteNo. We're just renting an apartment right now and they just barely had their "color team" paint it orange and said they liked it that way and that we couldn't change it.
DeleteI agree with the neutrals/silver+gold decor! Yikes about having pumpkin orange walls!! :) There are worse things though! Hubby and I lucked out at our new house, there's actually a large wall in the living room that is painted a nice deep red ~ perfect for holiday decor!

Personally, I'm a big fan of Nightmare Before Christmas! I say go for it!
ReplyDeleteHaha! That's awesome.
DeleteI definitely understand having an apartment that isn't your favorite color scheme... mine is all white! A little more plain that I would like.
ReplyDeleteA family that I babysit for made baked apples and oranges for Christmas ornaments for a country/rustic Christmas feel. I think it would look really nice in your apartment. They also made popcorn and cranberry garland which is so cute! Hope you find something that works :)
Oh my grandma used to do that! I didn't even think about that. Good idea. My husband just came home with blue ornaments though so that will be interesting haha!
DeletePumpkin orange. Oof. Hang something (fabric, etc) behind the tree to hide it in that area? Embrace it and hang pumpkin ornaments and Halloween lights? Temporary wall paper? Glad to have found your blog...I'm having so much catching up on old posts!
ReplyDeleteOooh that's a fun idea...
DeleteMaybe the Nightmare Before Christmas would be fun! But I can imagine orange getting old if it's on every wall. That's what color our bedroom is but that's the only place in the house we have orange.
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower of yours! Love your pictures you have up and I'm getting to know my way around your blog :) I think it's pretty cool your husband spent two years in Anchorage. That's where I was born and raised so it's still home.
Anyways, good luck with the decorating! I look forward to reading more of your posts.

i would suggest maybe using like lighter colors, thats tough. we have lime green and yellow walls in our apartment, so i get the feeling. but you could totally make it fun! we are just going for more of a retro look haha.

You are so funny! hahaha. I got out all our decor and I hated it- so I am having the opposite problem I guess. I agree with the girl above me ^ make it retro! That would be super cute and fun! Just do some things you don't have to spend a lot of money on. Or just do all white "wintery" decor. That's goes with anything. I wish all mine was white and wintery!
ReplyDeletegirl I feel you on apartment living. We can't hang any pictures because it's brick or some sort. Ugh! I can't wait until we get out of the lease.
