The Truth About My Body
I have to admit I was pretty excited when I heard about this link-up. My body has some very strange abnormalities and quirks and I just have a grand 'ol time with them.
- I get the hiccups at least 10 times a day. I never know when they are coming but the loudest shriek just burst from my diaphragm. It has been likened to a taradactyl.
- I have a birthmark on my knee that is shaped like the letter "Z." I used to tell my friends that Zorro slashed my knee in the night to leave his mark.
- The hair on the back of my head grows upward for 2 or 3 inches.
- My right ear has a little point on the tip. I think it might be from the cartilage getting squished in the womb?
- I have the boniest pointiest elbows in the world. If someone were going to attack me I could jab them with my elbows and all would be well.
- I have never had a nose bleed in my entire life.
- I also have very boney knees that stick out. I go through jeans so fast because my knees wear holes into them so fast.
- My physical therapist told me yesterday that I have a flat back. Normally your spine is suppose to curve out at the top of your back and then come back in in your waist and jut out again. I guess mine just goes straight down.
- I have terrible circulation. My feet turn dark purple if I don't elevate them when I sit and my legs and feet turn bright red if they get hot.
- I have a huge scar on my hip from long boarding. I was on a date my freshman year of college and the boy jumped on the back of the skateboard. I of course went skidding down the sidewalk. Yes, we were going down a hill. Ouch. This picture is about 5 years after the fact.
Wow, that's a pretty crazy scar! But...a fantastic story. I'm all for having scars if they tell a good story! I have one on my hand from melting plastic in a fire when I was 8. I had a great time, so I guess I wanted a little something to remember it by. :)

My feet do the exact same thing!!! (I wrote this comment and then accidentally closed the window before posting it I think...:( I was sad!!!) I had my circulation checked though and my doctor said it was really good, and supposedly it has to do with a vitamin deficiency. But my feet are either purple and cold to the touch or red and warm to the touch, people are always so concerned about me and it drives Joe insane because if I'm not wearing socks in bed, my feet touch him and they're either too hot or too cold for him, (and he never understands why I wear socks to bed haha). The other night, I put on this new Burt's Bees foot cream and I thought it was a warming thing, but then the next night when I put it on, it didn't warm and I realized that it was probably my feet that were hot and warmed up the stuff. So weird....
ReplyDeletedon't worry. i've had enough nose bleeds for the both of us. and you're not missing out on much. it can actually be quite a messy hassle. and i am truly in awe that your knees are so pointy they drill holes through your jeans. also, i love that scar. but i'm weird and totally love scars. (minus my acne scars, of course.) they're just fun. and there's always a good story attached to a good scar.
ReplyDeletePteradactyl, LMAO you are too funny! I love the zorro thing too. I hate my bony knees and elbow too! I always look at my knees like, "why do you look so weird compared to others'?"
ReplyDeleteI also have a 'z' birthmark on my knee! It is very tiny though. And I also have circulation problems. My hands and feet turn really red if I have one drink or if I get even a little bit warm...and this past winter they started turning WHITE as well. Reynaud's syndrome it's called, not dangerous but not cool when people are staring at you like "Why are your hands white/blue!?!?"
ReplyDeleteI am impressed by your skateboard scar. Also--I have a pointy ear too that I completely left out of my post! I always wondered why it was and that cartilage thing is a good theory! Thanks for linking up :)
ReplyDeleteThis is hillarious! I mean seriously, as weird as your body might seem, I have horrible circulation, my back is jacked up and I have a funky hair thing going on too. Oh, and I've mastered the elbow jab, don't eff with me!
ReplyDeleteNever had a nosebleed?!?! Oh my goodness...that's crazy. And that scar, WOW! That looks painful to me now!

ReplyDeletelove it! I have never had a nose bleed either. People think that is so strange. I also only had my first headache this year, now I've had like 3. ha ha.
ReplyDeleteWhen I wear my favorite jeans constantly, eventually the knees get rips in mine too!
